“I Surrender All” was composed by Winfield S. Weeden and was written by Judson W. Van DeVenter in 1886. I love the words written by Weeden as he said “for some time he had struggled between developing his talents in th afield of art. At the last pivotal hour of my life came, and I surrender all, a new day ushered into my life. I became and evangelist and discovered deep down in my soul a talent hitherto unknown to me. God had hidden a song in my heart and touching a tender chord, He caused me to sing.” The quote can be found here

This hymn has obviously effected many Christians throughout their lives in surrendering all they have to Jesus. I too, have experienced the feeling of knowing everything I have I owe to Him. All that I am I owe to Him. I surrender all to Him, who knows all, I surrender my life and hand it over to Him to use me in the ways that will build His Kingdom. I want to serve those around me. Music is so important and blesses our lives. This hymn has such a beautiful message. When we surrender we are giving everything we have to our Lord. We are using our life here on earth to bless others and give Him all the glory. All goodness comes from Him and He is the one who deserves all of the credit for anything that goes right in our lives.

It is my hope that singing hymns and creating “Sweet By and By” will help you to feel uplifted and strengthened by the power of heaven. God loves you and it is evident in the lyrics and melodies within the hymns on “Sweet By and By”. The authors of these hymns thoughtfully and humbly expressed their souls in this music. If you have listened or sung hymns in your worship please share with me how it has effected you for good. I’d love to hear from you. Please share in the comments below.
