Marvin Goldstein will perform in Star Valley on Saturday, Jan. 1, 2010 in a New  Year’s Day Gala Concert. The event will also feature the vocal talents of Vanessa Joy. The event is sponsored by the Star Valley Arts Council.

The concert will begin at 7 p.m. on Jan. 1 in the Star Valley High School Auditorium. Tickets to the performance are $12 and are available at the Star Valley Chamber of Commerce Offices in Afton and Thayne, online at starvalleyarts.org or at the door the night of the event.

“It is great when you can come together with another artist and work on something,” said Goldstein.

Goldstein and Joy recently returned from performing at the Daniel Pearl World Music Days in Cairo, Egypt. As part of that performance, Goldstein appeared on Arabic television to talk about his musical mission.

“It was amazing,” said Goldstein. “Someone with my background and my name talking on Arabic television. It was the music that allowed that to happen. Music soothes the soul. It brings people together in a shared experience and gives them something in common. We are trying to make friends and we are finding them through music.”
